The Molecular and Cellular Cancer Biology Retreat is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 from 8:15 AM - 6:00 PM. The daylong event will be held in the Hillman Cancer Center - Cooper Conference Rooms. The event will feature, various short talks, breakout sessions, poster presentations and featuring Dr. Jerry Shay, PhD from the University of Texas Southwestern as the keynote speaker. Dr. Shay will speak on the telomeres role on aging and cancer.
The overall goal of the retreat is to build and enhance the awareness of our current research initiatives, with an emphasis on bench to clinical translational studies. The program will be divide up into three sessions, centered around the three main themes of the program (genome stability, hormones/signaling, and mitochondrial function). The breakout session will be geared toward discussion and brainstorming on several topics including aging and cancer. The day will conclude with a poster presentation as well as light refreshments. We anticipate the program to be very interactive, and will lead to a wealth of knowledge and resources that will spur continued education and valued research.
